My Experience

For the past decade, I've been the bridge between Dwolla's Product & Engineering teams and the external developers who build on top of the platform.

At its core, Developer Relations is about understanding what developers need to be successful and ensuring our company delivers on that promise. What started as curiosity about how things work has evolved into expertise in making technical products accessible and genuinely useful.

I'm naturally drawn to solving hard problems with creative solutions – whether that's designing APIs that are pragmatic, turning chaotic incidents into learning opportunities, or building frameworks that help teams scale. My approach combines technical depth with strong intuition – I can sense when a meeting is going sideways, when a developer is frustrated with our docs and product, or when a team needs a different kind of leadership.

What I've built with significant impact:

  • Launched Dwolla's API and Drop-in components that fundamentally improved how developers integrate payments
  • Pioneered Dwolla's first AI-powered developer tools, implementing an LLM chatbot that significantly reduced support overhead while improving self-service capabilities, and releasing a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Dwolla platform
  • Created the strategic vision for Developer Relations that became the framework for scaling our team and is documented as our program strategy
  • Led through critical incidents including company-wide API security responses and multiple platform migrations, staying calm and keeping teams focused on solutions
  • Onboarded 400+ API customers & partners while establishing feedback loops that directly influenced product roadmaps
  • Led developer-focused go-to-market strategy across all product launches, crafting audience segmentation, positioning, and messaging that resonates with technical users

I bring a metrics-driven approach to everything I do, but I never lose sight of the human element. Whether I'm removing friction from the developer journey, advocating for customer/developer feedback, or mentoring team members through their first conference presentation, I believe the best solutions come from truly understanding people's needs. I'm constantly learning and adapting—treating every challenge, from team setbacks to industry changes, as an opportunity to improve, which has been essential in a field that evolves as rapidly as Developer Relations.

My neurodivergent perspective (ADHD) has actually become one of my greatest professional assets. Having ADHD means I naturally think in systems and can quickly spot patterns that others miss, while my experience with cognitive differences has made me highly empathetic to developers who feel overwhelmed by complex technical concepts. I've learned to design processes and communications that work for different thinking styles, not just neurotypical ones – which ultimately makes our developer experience better for everyone.

What's next: I'm passionate about shaping the future of Developer Relations and Product, particularly in API-first companies where I can combine my technical expertise with my love for building communities and creating exceptional developer experiences.
